In the southwest of the country, the dry season is from December to April, when it is mostly dry and hot.

green season

In Costa Rica, the wet months are referred to as the green season. In the southwest of the country, the green season starts around May. Until September the rain is infrequent.

In June and July, there typically is a relatively dry interval. In Latin America this dry interval in the green season is called the "Veranito de San Juan".
